Events, Conferences & Workshops

The Research Centre for Energy Management at ESCP Europe Business School provides a forum for international dialogue through its conferences, workshops and seminars (featuring contributions from leading international figures, as well as ESCP Europe students and alumni). 

The main purpose of these events is to provide energy specialists with the opportunity to exchange views on up-to-date topics and identify new research orientations. A wide range of subjects in the energy and environment field will be covered, as described in the Research Themes section.

  • 29th October, 2016 at 10:30-16:00; ESCP Europe's London Campus

    On 29th October 2016, we opened the doors of ESCP Europe's London campus to anyone wanting to know more about the School and the programmes it provides.

    This all-day event combined presentations, workshops and panel discussions, all designed to give an idea of what happens at ESCP Europe, The World's First Business School (est. 1819). We also provided refreshments and networking sessions, allowing attendees to mingle informally with both each other and members of the School's staff and faculty.

    On 22nd June 2016, we organized an information session at the ESCP Europe Paris Campus (Room 5217)  to anyone wanting to know more about our postgraduate Master in Agribusiness Management (MAM), MSc in Energy Management (MEM) or the Executive Master in Energy Management (EMEM).

    This free event will give you the opportunity to learn about the MAM, MEM and EMEM, discover which is right for you, and be guided through the admission process. There will also be an open Q&A session at the end of the presentation. 

     

     
  • 30th - 31st May ; Paris

    Energy Session on "Bi-regional Energy collaboration: Challenges and Opportunities", coordinated by Prof. Dr Kostas Andriosopoulos.

    The Conference was organised by Centre d’Etudes et de Recherche Amérique Latine Europe (CERALE), in collaboration with the Research Centre for Energy Management (RCEM) at ESCP Europe Business School. The event took place on 30th - 31st May, 2016 in Paris.

    The meeting aimed to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and to present new research results on the theory and modern practice of modeling, risk management, asset pricing and energy management, with a focus on energy modeling and regulation. The event brought together government representatives, international organizations, financial institutions, energy corporations, law firms and top energy experts to discuss the current challenges and opportunities of the Energy industry in Latin America and Europe.

    We hosted our Spring Open Day at the London campus on 7th May 2016.

    Attendees visited our beautiful campus, found out more about our undergraduate (bachelor), postgraduate (master) and executive study options, met faculty and admission staff, and even got careers advice!

    Roundtable discussion on "Natural Gas as a bridge to a Renewable Energy Future"

    The Research Centre for Energy Management (RCEM) and ESCP Europe hosted a roundtable discussion on "Natural Gas as a Bridge to a Renewable Energy Future". The event took place on Thursday, 21st April, 4.00pm at ESCP Europe's Paris Campus. The conference provided an excellent opportunity to hear the latest advances from top industry experts and network with other like-minded people.

    Invited Talk on "The Southern Gas Corridor: Current Perceptions and Future Prospects"

    Speaker: John Roberts, Chief Analyst, Natural Gas World

    In physical terms, the construction of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) is proceeding rapidly.

    But there may well be a mismatch between current perceptions of what the SGC will achieve and its actual development over the next ten years or so.

    Current perceptions are centred on the supply of Azerbaijani gas for first stage delivery of 6 bcm/y to Turkey and 10 bcm/y to Europe and also as the key component in second stage delivery of similar volumes to the EU and Turkey.

    XXXVIII Annual Conference - Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the UK

    We are delighted to announce that ESCP Europe Business School and its Research Centre for  Energy Management were taking part as Media Partners at this year’s  Organisational Resilience Annual Conference organised by the Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the UK. The conference took place at the Church House Conference Centre, Dean’s Yard, Westminster on 11th November, 2016.

    The Chamber's most important event is its Annual Conference, first held in 1981. It was originally scheduled just prior to the International Monetary Fund as an informal get together of the participants en route from Italy to Washington or one of the other venues abroad. Over the years it has became a significant event in its own right and an obligatory date on the calendar of anyone dealing with Italy and the UK.

    We are proud to announce that ESCP Europe Business School and its Research Centre for Energy Management were taking part as a Supporting Partner at this year’s Energy Summit organised by The Economist Events. The conference took place on 10th November at The HAC in London.

    Global energy markets are at an inflection point and the coming period will be characterised by a rapid decline in the carbon intensity of the global economy and faster growth in the deployment of renewables, fuelled by the Paris agreement in late 2015. Although oil prices remain low, the shift towards lower-carbon energy sources will prove far longer-lasting, creating profound implications for the energy industry and challenging the future of energy companies.

    We are delighted to announce that ESCP Europe Business School and its Research Centre for Energy Management took part as media partners at this year’s LNG Global Congress organised by Informa. This unique event took place on 20th - 23rd September at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London.

    LNGgc 2016 has established itself as a prestigious LNG industry platforms in UK and Europe to explore the whole LNG value chain for the most topical content and networking opportunity. This year’s agenda has been refreshed to look at burning discussions on the ‘Outlook for the LNG future in Europe’ in the context of global LNG supply, new demand markets and the evolving oil and gas economics in the energy mix.

    The Research Centre for Energy Management (RCEM) at ESCP Europe was delighted to announce The Trader Experience Event organised by our Partner PVM Smart Learning, and the world’s largest brokerage Tullett Prebon.

    The event took place on 4th July 2016 in London, this exclusive one-day workshop allowed participants to experience first-hand the role of an Oil Trader on a real-time simulated trading floor.

    This unique event provided the opportunity to understand the highs and lows of real-time trading. Interpret live news alerts and learn why and how major global commodity markets move in a fully interactive, realistic series of simulations delivered by industry experts.

    The Research Centre for Energy Management (RCEM) at ESCP Europe was pleased to support the Energy and Commodity Finance Conference 2016 organised by ESSEC Business School. The event took place on 23rd-24th June 2016, in Paris.

    The Energy and Commodity Finance Conference 2016 followed in the footsteps of a long standing series of Energy Finance meetings that held their first event in London in 2004 and nowadays represents the benchmark academic conference in the area.

     
  • 21st June, 2016; Exhibition Centre Liverpool

    The Research Centre for Energy Management (RCEM) at ESCP Europe was pleased to announce the Energy Management - Meeting the Standard Conference. The event took place on 21st June in Liverpool. This one day conference was hosted by the Energy Institute as part of the International Festival for Business 2016’s Energy and Environment Week.

     
  • 7th - 9th March, 2016; Grange Holborn Hotel, London

    The 1st Annual Conference on Energy Arbitration and Dispute Resolution in the Middle East and Africa took place in Central London, at the Grange St. Paul’s Hotel, on 7th – 8th March, followed by a day of executive workshops on 9th March 2016. The event was organised by the London Centre of International Law Practice (LCILP) through its Centre for International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution, and Centre for International Energy and Natural Resources Law and Security.

    This high-level event brought together policy makers and governmental representatives, national and international oil companies, major stakeholders, arbitration institutions and energy organisations, and practitioners and academics. The conference is directed by Brandon Malone, one of LCILP’s highly regarded experts and supported by major institutions and organisations in the sector.

    Invited Talk on "Formation and Evolution of European Gas Prices"

    Speaker: Lucie Roux, Senior Specialist, European Gas, Platts & (EMEM Class, 2012)

    Europe represents one of the regions where the most important developments in price formation have taken place over the last decade. The continent registered a significant shift to 64% gas hub price indexation in 2015 from 15% in 2005, gas volumes imported under oil-indexed contracts were replaced or renegotiated whereas oil-price indexation in Europe dropped to 30% from 78% in the same term (IGU).

Over the last decade two key trends have surged: shale oil wells emerging across the US and demand for oil in the East soaring. 

    Crude can provide huge liquidity and excellent opportunities to profit in practically all market conditions despite the energy sector volatility. Today's energy executives need to successfully do business in an era of low oil prices.

    The RCEM at ESCP Europe will host a discussion on the topic "BP Energy Outlook - 2016 Edition". The event took place at ESCP Europe's London Campus at 4:00 pm on 4th March, 2016.

    William discussed BP’s latest Energy Outlook publication, which provides an updated view of the likely path of global energy markets to 2035. It made assumptions on changes in policy, technology and the economy, based on extensive internal and external consultations, and uses a range of analytical tools to build a “most likely” view and some alternative cases.
