Speaker: Daniel Dumas, Senior Advisor / Mission Chief, International Monetary Fund (IMF)

Daniel Dumas of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was invited to speak at ESCP Europe, London campus on the 14th November to discuss the latest on Taxation of Natural Resources Features, Principles, Issues.

Students on the Master in Energy Management, Energy Alumni and Experts in the field heard case studies and explored the current taxation of natural resources situation, challenges and opportunities in various international markets. 

After the discussion, participants had the opportunity to network and shared key insights on these interesting topics.

Daniel Dumas, Senior Advisor / Mission Chief, International Monetary Fund (IMF)

With over 20 years of experience in the energy and natural resources sectors, Daniel joined the IMF in 2012. Previously, he was Head of the Economic & Legal Section (ELS) of the Commonwealth Secretariat.  Daniel's work has been focusing on providing assistance in energy and natural resources, mainly on economics and fiscal matters.  Only within his past year with the IMF, Daniel has been involved in projects in Kenya, Malawi, Haiti, Burkina Faso, Surinam and Mali. 

Daniel's interest is on striking the right balance between companies and government interests and in revenue management mechanisms.  Before joining the Commonwealth Secretariat, Daniel was with SNC-Lavalin, one of Canada's leading engineering and consulting firms after being a Director at the World Energy Council for a number of years.  He also developed and taught a number of courses at HEC-Montréal, mainly within HEC's MBA Energy program. Daniel has a graduate degree in Applied Economics and holds a MBA.
