Low Energy Prices and its Impact to the International Energy Landscape

The Research Centre for Energy Management (RCEM) and ESCP Europe hosted a roundtable discussion on the topic "Low energy prices and its impact to the international energy landscape". The event took place place at ESCP Europe's Paris Campus at 5:00 pm on 22nd February, 2016.

Distinguished speakers Jean-Louis Tertian, and Christophe McGlade shared the latest advances on this timely topic, looking at the challenges presented. Lecturers were joined by our World-Class faculty, Executive Master in Energy Management (EMEM) participants, industry professionals and Alumni. 

Jean-Louis Tertian, Controller General, Ministry of Economy and Finance, France

JLJean-Louis Tertian works in the French Ministry of Economy and Finance. He is Controller General since end 2015 and was previously Director of Competitive Intelligence, a Directorate he joined in 2007.

He worked with the European Commission between 2003 and 2007 as a Policy Officer in the field of Competition Policy. Prior to that, he was Senior Advisor within the French Telecommunications and Posts Regulator between 1998 and 2003. During that time, he chaired a working group on economic aspects of interconnection within the European Conference for Posts and Telecommunications.

He is also Reserve Colonel in the French Air Force and member of the Board of the French Exporters Club.

He holds an Engineer Diploma and a Master in Public Administration from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Postes et Télécommunications.

Christophe McGlade, Senior Energy Analyst, World Energy Outlook team, International Energy Agency, France

CMcGChristophe McGlade is an oil and gas analyst working on the World Energy Outlook in the Energy Supply Outlook Division of the International Energy Agency (IEA). Christophe joined the IEA in September 2015 having completed a two year post-doctoral position at the University College London (UCL) Institute for Sustainable Resources. During his time at UCL he was lead author on a paper examining the geographical distribution of fossil fuels unused when limiting global warming to 2 °C, which received the most media coverage of all climate change papers published globally in 2015. He holds a PhD in Energy and Resources from UCL and a BA and MSc in Experimental and Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge.
