2014 ESCP-GAMMA JOINT SYMPOSIUM ON “ENERGY MARKETING in the 21st Century: Opportunities and Challenges”

The 2014 Global Marketing Conference (GMC) took place in Singapore, on July 15-July 18, 2014. ESCP Europe (Department of Marketing & Research Centre for Energy Management) and Global Alliance of Marketing & Management Associations jointly hold the 2014 ESCP Europe-GAMMA Joint Symposium on

"ENERGY MARKETING in the 21st Century: Opportunities and Challenges"

The Symposium was an opportunity to bring together a wide group of scholars interested in marketing energy issues as well as conducting research and publishing in this new interdisciplinary area of the energy and marketing literature.

Energy marketing is an emerging area of research. While currently in its infancy, it is expected to grow rapidly due to the impact of energy management on the economic, social and cultural environment, and the resulting implications for companies, consumers and everyday life all over the globe. The 2014 ESCP-GAMMA JOINT SYMPOSIUM was the 1st ever attempt to offer a global forum for discussion, integration and reviewing of energy marketing issues.

Conceptual and empirical manuscripts were welcome. Indicative topics include - but were not limited to - the following:

  • Challenges in Energy Marketing (e.g. depletion of natural resources, biodiversity reduction, waste)
  • New developments, dimensions and typologies of energy marketing and sustainability
  • Security of energy supply and implications for consumers and companies
  • Pricing of energy
  • Ethical dimensions of the energy mix (renewable vs. nuclear)
  • Cultural differences in energy management
  • Energy supply mix and smart grids
  • Energy efficiency and consumers' adaptation
  • Affordability of electricity prices and consumer behaviour
