Wednesday 1st February

With the final day of the Emirates EVRT starting, everyone was in agreement that it had been an amazing experience, a unique opportunity to learn about electric vehicles, and a privilege to open charging stations at key locations in the UAE.

Our first stop of Day 4 was in Dubai Motor City, where the cars had a special photoshoot, and then we moved on to the Sustainable City for our conference. We were greeted by a large crowd, including members of the local community and a range of media outlets. They were keen to try the EVs for themselves and learn more about the benefits of owning one, as well as asking plenty of questions about the Emirates EVRT.

Tuesday 31st January

The third day of the Emirates EVRT started with an early morning - we needed to prepare to open another charging station, this time at the Novotel Hotel in Fujairah!

It was officially declared open by ENGIE, one of the main sponsors of the EVRT, and Wiebe Walker from the Plug Me In project. Wiebe joined the Emirates EVRT during his own road trip, in which he was driving all the way from the Netherlands to Australia by electric vehicle.

The Emirates Global EVRT team had an early start at the Marjan Island Resort & Spa in Ras al-Khaimah, with planning for the day taking place before breakfast. Many took extra time to investigate the range of electric bikes on display around the hotel.

Upon departure from the hotel, we headed straight to Jabel Jais, the highest peak in the UAE. With an elevation of 1,892m, this rocky mountain sits on the border with Oman (where it actually reaches even higher with an elevation of 1,911m) and, with its dramatic scenery, helps provide one of the best driving roads in the UAE.

What is it like to work on the trading floor of the most active energy markets?  What are the key insights needed to trade competitively in oil and gas?

Energy supplies become an ever-more valuable commodity due to strong competition for safe and affordable sources, making energy trading a complex challenge. However, this sector also offers a great opportunity for young talent looking to make an impact.

A life-changing opportunity and major career boost: that is the promise of ESCP Europe's Energy Society in London upon launching the Energy Trading Challenge. Taking place on 24th and 25th February at ESCP Europe Business School’s London campus, the event is organised by MSc in Energy Management (MEM) students with the support of Smart Global, ESCP Europe, and the ESCP Europe Research Centre for Energy Management (RCEM).

On Saturday, 29th January 2017, the Emirates Electric Vehicle Road Trip was officially launched in style in Dubai.

Having supported the Global EVRT project since its inception in 2015 by students on the MSc in Energy Management programme (who formed the ESCP Europe Energy Society), ESCP Europe is delighted to act as sponsor and strategic knowledge partner for the first edition of the Emirates EVRT.

Three members of the School's community - Prof. Simon Mercado, Director of the London campus; Prof. Kostas Andriosopoulos, Academic Director of ESCP Europe's Energy Management programmes; and Emily Centeno, Head of Marketing & Admissions at the London campus - are taking part in this groundbreaking event.
