The Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Antonis C. Samaras gave the closing remarks, and Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Makis Papageorgiou gave the openning keynote speech, at the latest international conference of the RCEM 'The Future of Greek Gas and Power Markets: Looking ahead with optimism and realism'. The event took place on 29 April in Athens, Greece, where Dr. Kostas Andriosopoulos, RCEM Executive Director welcomed more than 400 top energy experts.

The Mediterannean Oil and Gas Conference  is an annual platform that was inaugurated in 2010 in Athens by three principal government leaders in the Mediterranean and Caspian regions: Antonis Paschalides, Energy Minister of Cyprus, Natiq Aliyev, Energy Minister of Azerbaijan and Yiannis Maniatis, Energy Minister of Greece. Ever since, the Mediterranean Oil & Gas Conferfence has been established as an exclusive forum of the oil and gas industry in the region, attracting investors, government leaders and oilmen.This year Energy Stream CMG GmbH will organize the 5 th  Mediterranean Oil and Gas Conference 2014 in Nicosia, Cyprus and will focus on the new gas discoveries in Israel and Cyprus, Cyprus' role on the Southern Gas Corridor, the future investments in gas infrastructure, and the potential for East Med. LNG trade with the European Union.

In 2014 the 5th Mediterranean Oil and Gas Conference will be held for the fifth consecutive year, on 8 & 9 May in Nicosia, Cyprus.
